A shipping unit is an arrangement of materials that are packed together in a box, package, or some other shipping item at a specific time. An example of a shipping unit would be the box, the product being shipped, the packing material (bubble wrap, packing paper, packing peanuts, etc.), and the invoice. Once the shipping unit is assembled, it is given an identification number.
