The Stock Keeping Unit is a number that identifies each separate department, brand, size, flavor, color or pack of a product. The Stock Keeping Unit, or SKU, requires a separate identification number to distinguish it from other items. In inventory control and identification systems, it represents the smallest unit for which sales and stock records are kept.
