Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is a financial estimate designed to help consumers and enterprise managers assess direct and indirect costs of a product. TCO does not just look at the purchase price of a product, but it looks at the total cost from the purchase to the discarding of the product. This is a common term in the Information Technology (IT) field related to software and/or hardware.
