General Merchandise is any product other than food not considered part of the regular grocery line that is sold in supermarkets and requires special buying, servicing, and warehousing. GM classes are: hardlines,softlines, reading/writing lines, health and beauty care (HBC), and services. Some GM items, for example, can include books, housewares, clothing, and electronics.
