A pallet is horizontal platform on which products are stacked.  It is a flat transport structure that supports goods in a stable fashion while being lifted by a forklift, pallet jack, front loader, work saver, or other jacking device. The pallet is used for storing, handling, and shipping. In addition, a pallet provides safety to the product by covering of the bottom deck of the pallet, unlike a skid.  A pallet affixed with RFID or GPS technology can also offer benefits of information and/or location tracking, both for the pallet itself, and for the merchandise it is carrying.
