Slotting allowances are when a vendor or manufacturer pays a retailer a one-time payment to ensure they have an open spot at their warehouse or stores. Slotting allowances is very controversial, but is commonly used when a manufacturer is introducing a new product or new product line. This term is also known as conversion allowance.
